Computer Othello

Computer TV Game

Othello is a 19th Century board game, better known in the United States as "Reversi". The aim of the game is to place either black or white pieces to trap the opponent's pieces, flipping the trapped pieces to turn them into your own colour. The player with the most pieces in their colour on the board when no more pieces can be played is the winner.

Nintendo's first arcade videogame, Computer Othello, was based on the game, with noughts and crosses used rather than the traditional black and white pieces, thanks to the one-colour display.

Home Version: Computer TV Game

A home port of Computer Othello was also the last of the Color TV Game series, and the last home videogame system Nintendo produced until the Famicom three years later.

You can play against a human player or the computer. The computer AI was considered to be challenging enough to ensure the Computer TV Game system was popular with older players.
