Donkey Kong Jr.

After capturing Donkey Kong, Mario is dragging the caged ape through the jungle to his hideout. Enter Donkey Kong Jr., who must rescue his Papa from Mario.

In this game, you play as Donkey Kong Jr. You have to climb to the top of each stage and grab the key from in front of Mario. Junior can move around and jump, but he can also climb vines, cables and chains. If Junior holds two vines at once then he can climb faster, and if he holds just one then he can descend faster.

As in Donkey Kong, there are four stages, each presenting different challenges.

  • Stage 1

This stage features a lot of vines and several platforms coming from water. Red Snapjaws climb up and down the vines and must be avoided. Mario sends out blue Snapjaws that climb down vines and fall off the screen. In order to beat Snapjaws, you can knock the fruit down to land on them.

  • Stage 2

This stage features more tricky platforms. Near the start is a Springboard platform you can use to jump to a distand platform, or even grab the moving vines. Nitpickers fly across the top of the screen and drop eggs on you.

  • Stage 3

This electric stage has sparks travelling around platforms at various speeds. Mario pulls a lever at the top of the stage that sends a second kind of spark travelling down the blue pathways all the way down the stage.

  • Stage 4

This is the final stage, where you must climb the chains to push all the keys into the keyholes to free Donkey Kong. Mario sends the fat Tori birds swooping across the screen.
