An evil wizard named Wizpig has taken control of Timber the Tiger's island, stealing the Golden Balloons and sealing all but one of the race tracks. Timber sends letters out to his friends, including Diddy Kong, asking for their help.
In Adventure Mode, select your character and learn how to race with Taj the Elephant. Timber's Island is a free-roaming hub where you can access race tracks using Golden Balloons you win from races.
There are three different racing craft to choose from: the car, hovercraft and plane. Item balloons can be collected in different colours for different weapons, and collecting up to three balloons of the same colour will power-up that weapon.
A remake of Diddy Kong Racing on the Nintendo DS. The game keeps all the tracks and gameplay from the original, but replaces Banjo and Conker with Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong.
New features include minigames that use the touch screen, a track editor, and online play through the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

Banjo
While Banjo-Kazooie had already been unveiled, Banjo debuted in Diddy Kong Racing before the release of his own game.
Conker
As with Banjo, Conker's own game, Twelve Tales: Conker 64 had also been unveiled when he made his debut appearance in Diddy Kong Racing. However, Conker's game was delayed and eventually remodelled into Conker's Bad Fur Day late in the life of the Nintendo 64.
Note:
Both Banjo and Conker were removed from Diddy Kong Racing DS.
