A 15-year old orphan is found snooping around for information on his parents' deaths by the police, but private detective Shunsuke Utsugi arrives and spares the kid from jail. Impressed by your nose for detective work, he takes you under his wing as assistant detective.
Several months later, the boy is sent to investigate the murder of a schoolgirl named Yoko Kojima. She was part of the school's Detective Club, investigating the ghost story of a blood-covered schoolgirl who appears behind her victims before killing them.
You team up with Yoko's best friend Ayumi Tachibana in order to investigate these strange occurrences and try and solve the mysteries.
A remake of Famicom Detective Club Part II was released on the 10th anniversary of the original Famicom Detective Club (and re-released on the Wii Virtual Console on the 20th anniversary).
The music and graphics for the entire game have been completely overhauled, though the core gameplay and plot remains the same.

Famicom Detective Club Part II is a remake of a game on the Famicom Disk System, a Japan only accessory for the Famicom (NES).
When you start this game, it plays a spoof 8-bit mock-up of the Famicom Disk System loading screen with Mario and Luigi running around turning the lights on and off, which occurred when you turned on the Disk System on without loading a disk. You get a disclaimer about Nintendo Power, spoofing the Disk System's disclaimer. The original game's title screen and music begin to appear and then transform into the updated 16-bit title screen.
On a news report during the game, the screen behind the newsreaders says "N64".
