Game & Watch Gallery Advance contains six Game & Watch games, and five extra unlockable games. They can be played in "Classic" mode, emulating the originals as much as possible, or in an updated "Modern" version starring Mario characters and altered gameplay. High scores in all of the games are rewarded with a slew of unlockable games and features.

During Modern Octopus, one of the treasures Mario might put into his bag is a Game Boy Advance.

Modern Mario's Cement Factory is set in a bakery, where Mario is baking cookies which are either packaged by Toad on the left or eaten by Yoshi on the right. The cookies, and the presence of Yoshi, are taken from Yoshi's Cookie.
