A fighting tournament run by an unknown evil has come to Earth. Choose a fighter and work your way through the challengers one by one to face the final battle.
You get two lives during each fight within which to win. As well as punches, kicks and blocks, unleash special attacks and devastating combos to bring an end to your opponents quickly.
The game uses the pre-rendered CGI graphics technology pioneered with Donkey Kong Country, plus the arcade version featured high resolution sprites and FMV backgrounds.
A SNES version of the game was released, perhaps being the best-known version of Killer Instinct. While sacrifices had to be made to graphics and sound due to hardware limitations, the game kept much of the gameplay intact and added some new features, including Training and Tournament modes.
The SNES version was also packaged with the "Killer Cuts" CD, featuring remixes of several music tracks from the game.
Killer Instinct (Game Boy)
A port of the game was developed on the Game Boy, but a lot of features were cut from the game. The characters Cinder and Riptor were removed entirely, and many other characters featured severely altered attacks due to both hardware limitations and the lack of buttons.
