Information
Stafy is the prince of the sky kingdom of Tenkai. One day, he drops a Magic Jar into the ocean, and it causes a terrible storm. Stafy is washed from Tenkai Palace by the storm and he lands in the ocean.
Stafy befriends Lobii-san the lobster and Kyorosuke the clam who want to help Stafy get back to Tenkai, but a mysterious creature named Ogura has appeared and is determined to stop you.
Legendary Stafy is a 2D Platformer with a focus on moving around underwater. Stafy is able to move around on land, and freely move about in the water as well. His key move, though, is the spin attack. You can use this to break blocks, defeat enemies, or even launch yourself at high speed out of the water.
Stafy has five hearts on his life bar, and if he loses all of his hearts then it's Game Over and you return to the last key point on the stage. You can replenish your health by collecting the small gems scattered around in stage or dropped by enemies. Collect 5 to refill one heart. At the end of the stage, the gems are tallied up and added to a total score.
In each stage you will meet a character who needs your help. Your goal is to clear the task that the character asks of you, which is usually to find an item of value in the stage and return it to them. Some stages have multiple characters who will need your help.
Other characters just want to play a minigame with you. In these games you control Kyorosuke, who acts as a paddle at the bottom of the screen. You bounce Stafy (or another object) around the stage and try to beat the opponent's score. The minigames are different on each stage: playing tennis, collecting more items than the opponent, bouncing bombs back, etc.
At the end of each stage, you will face a boss character, who is typically the cause of the problems on that stage. In this fight, you and the boss have five pieces of health on a lifebar. You have to find their vulnerable point and spin attack them to rack up damage. When you clear a boss you move on to the next stage.
