Strange creatures have been showing up in the sewers, and the Mario Bros. have been sent to clear up them up.
Enemies walk out of the pipes at the top of the screen and drop down across the platforms to the bottom, where they enter the pipes and reappear at the top. You have to knock them over by hitting the platform they are standing on from underneath, then finish them off by kicking them.
Either play alone as Mario, or team up with a second player as Luigi. Together you can cooperate to clear the Phases or compete for Coins and bonus points.
Mario Bros. (Famicom/NES)
A port of the Arcade game was one of the earliest games on the Famicom in Japan. As a result, the short demos showing each enemy's movements was removed and a number of bonus stages were taken out. The sprites were scaled down and a sprite flickering effect was used to display so many on screen.
Classic Series: Mario Bros.
A second version, released for the NES exclusively in Europe in 1993, reinstated all of the elements from the Arcade game that were missing from the original NES version, making it an almost pixel-perfect port.
