Information

Set in the period between Metroid and Metroid II, Samus Aran has found a Space Pirate station orbiting the planet of Tallon IV. Inside she finds horribly mutated beasts, and files of information on a mutagen excavated from Tallon IV - Phazon. She escapes from the space station and lands on the planet in order to investigate the Space Pirate experiments.

You play as Samus Aran from a first-person perspective. You must explore the planet for weapons and other power-ups, each allowing you to explore somewhere new. Your basic arm cannon can be used to take out basic enemies, but later you will need to switch between weapons to do damage to the enemies. At times you will also need to change your visor setting in order to spot a weak point on an enemy. Your Scan visor is also helpful, allowing you to collect information about virtually everything in the game. A 100% completion score is only for those who have scanned it all.

You will come across boss enemies from time to time, and these must often be defeated before you can progress. A new piece of equipment isn't just for what lies ahead though. Often you will have to return to earlier areas and try out your new powers.
