When Nintendo signed Kobe Bryant up to promote a series of games in just his second season, the development was passed on to Left Field - at the time Nintendo's sporty second party. This game recreates the game of basketball as closely as possible. Grab the ball and get it through the hoop. Defend your hoop from the other team's advances - as points are gained by scoring hoops, and the winner is the team with the most points.

As the role you take is more like that of a coach, you have to choose the positions of the players and their strategies. When the game begins, however, you control one player at a time.

Many NBA players have been recreated in this game, not just Kobe Bryant, and some of their stats and play abilities have also been added into the game. You can choose one of the pre-made teams or customize your own and save it to the N64 Memory Pak. This also allows you to take the team to a friend's copy of NBA Courtside and show them what for in the multiplayer mode.

Hold down the L Button on the main menu and select the Pre-Season Option. This should unlock the three secret teams modelled after the developers.
