This sequel to Pokémon Stadium is compatible with all Pokémon from the Red/Blue and Yellow, Gold/Silver and Crystal games.
Take part in Cups, where each player takes six Pokémon with them, and choose three for each individual battle. The game allows for attached items to be used, and for all attacks in both series of games. The battles are played out in full 3D.
Winning cups gives you a variety of prizes, including new Pokémon and play modes. Using the N64's Gameboy Transfer Pak you can play all of the Pokémon RPGs, allowing you to train and catch Pokémon to use in Stadium. The Pokémon you catch can then be arranged and stored on the N64 cart.
The game has several other modes, such as multiplayer and minigames.
Nintendo Systems & Games in My Room Mode
If you arrange to have some of your money sent home in Pokémon Gold/Silver or Crystal, then your mom will occasionally buy you gifts in the game to decorate your room with. These include various Nintendo consoles. In Pokémon Stadium 2's "My Room" mode you can decorate your room in full 3D, and when you use a console you can see stills of games from that system on the TV.
No games appear on the screen.
