Information

RPG developer Alphadream announced a Game Boy Color title called Gimmick Land. When the Game Boy Advance was announced, development shifted to the new handheld and received a change in name and a bright, colourful makeover.

The Ketchup Kingdom is a land run by children who love tomatoes. Children who don't like tomatoes are banished to Kobora Village until they learn to like them. DeMille and his girlfriend Patharan are among those banished.

On Tomato Day, King Abira of the Tomato Kingdom unveils the Super Cara-Cooker, a weapon that transforms people into toys. He needs special energies to charge the weapon, and kidnaps Patharan for her Heart Energy.

In order to save Patharan - and the Ketchup Kingdom - DeMille must travel across the Ketchup Kingdom and defeat the six Super Kids to prevent the Super Cara-Cooker from being activated. He also needs to collect six Toy Parts that will allow him to access King Abira's castle to rescue Patharan.

Tomato Adventure is an RPG featuring action commands during the menu-based battles, similar to the Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario games. You fight using weapons called Gimmicks that prompt you during battle to enter a button combination to determine the attack's effect.

Each Gimmick has its own action that falls into one of four categories: Timed, Speed, Dokidoki and Input. Players can adjust the difficulty of the Gimmicks to inflict more damage. Gimmicks can only be used a limited number of times.

DeMille will be joined by other characters during the game who will help him during battles and advance the storyline. Aretha the rabbit, Sofubi the frog and Rereku the ninja mole will join you during the game.
