Gunpei Yokoi's last stand before leaving Nintendo was to create Panel de Pon, a puzzle game where stacks of blocks rise towards the top of the screen, you have to match up same-coloured blocks in lines of three or more by swapping two blocks horizontally. Quick fingers and a quick mind are needed to master the game.
The Japanese version of the game featured a cast of fairies, led by the flower fairy Lip. The US release replaced the original cast with characters from Yoshi's Island, and went under the name Tetris Attack. Due in part to licensing the Tetris name, the series has gone by various names outside of Japan, finally settling on Puzzle League.
